I built my first web app
One evening, one morning, and about six hours with Claude — a personal finance tracker, live on my own domain.
Today I published the first web app I’ve ever built myself.
It’s a personal finance tracker and planner. I made it with Claude over one evening and the next morning — about six hours from start to finish, and I spent a good part of those six hours cooking, cleaning the house, and getting other work done. The result is live on my own domain: a working web app hosted on Cloudflare, with Supabase behind it. It even has its own MCP server, which I’ve connected to ChatGPT and Codex — the AI agent I use for my personal things.
It’s hard to put into words how satisfied I feel. What used to seem like an impossible task now takes half a day. I finally have my own small product, and I can build it exactly the way I want it. I also built in support for multiple accounts from the start — so somewhere in the back of my mind there’s a small hope that one day it might be useful to someone other than me.
Which is the real reason I made it in the first place. I tried plenty of finance apps and none of them ever felt right — so I built my own. I’ll tell that story properly in another note.
You’ll notice there’s no screenshot or link here. It’s all still a bit raw, and I’d rather show you the real thing once it’s ready. That’s the next note. Stay tuned.
